KUCHING: Another three areas including one in Betong have been declared as rabies-infested.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also chairman of the State Disaster (JPBN) said this today.
The three affected areas are Rumah Lanchun, Sungai Tenggang and Sri Golden Fame Oil Palm Plantation, Pantu – both in Sri Aman and Simpang Kawasan Layar in Betong.
Betong is the latest Division in Sarawak having rabies infested area.
Prior to today’s declaration there was only one area affected in Sri Aman.
All in all 36 areas has been gazetted as rabies-infested in the state.
Apart from Betong and Sri Aman, the other Divisions having several rabies infested areas are Serian, Kuching, Samarahan and Sarikei.
The size of a rabies infested area would be 10 KM radius from point zero.
